About Ragdolls

Ragdoll cats are large, beautiful and loving cats. Their sweet temperament is probably their most outstanding trait. I have heard them called the Golden Retrievers of the cat world. They can be trained to fetch and come when they are called. Surely, they're happiest when they're near you, if not on your lap. They'll greet you at the door and follow you from room to room. They are the ultimate family cat.

Their fur is rabbit-like, long and silky to the touch and there's nothing like running your hands through it. It seldom mats and requires little maintenance.

Ragdoll cats reach full color and size between 2 and 3 years old. Male Ragdoll cats range in size from 15-25 pounds and female Ragdoll cats usually weigh 10-20 pounds.

Colors and Patterns

Ragdoll kittens are born white and all Ragdoll cats have stunning blue eyes. Their color patterns begin to develop by day 10.

Originally, when Ann Baker first developed Ragdoll cats, there were three distinct colors. Since then, because of careful and monitored breeding, there is a wider variety and now they may be found in any of the following colors:

Seal Point, Blue Point, Chocolate Point, Lilac Point, Red Point or Cream Point. Their markings may be any of these patterns:

COLORPOINT -- Point colored mask, ears, feet, nose, paw pads and tail. A colorpoint has no white.
MITTED -- Point colored mask, ears and legs with white mittens on the front feet and white boots on the back legs. The chin, ruff and stomach should be white.
BICOLOR -- Point colored ears and tail. White inverted "V" in their mask, white legs, feet, ruff and stomach. Nose and paw pads are pink.
LYNX POINT -- Shows as tabby markings on the face in what appears to be a letter "W". Overlays any one of the above patterns.
TORTIE -- Tortie points are generally red or cream mixed with one of the other colors. Overlays any of the above patterns.
